Re-naissance

In September 2023, Glitch had the honour of participating in the prestigious Luma Festival, a major event taking place in the heart of the city of Binghamton, New York. Surrounded by renowned figures in the field of mapping, Glitch is once again associated with the music band Elefan to offer a creation on an iconic building of the city, the First National Bank of Binghamton.

The project "Re-naissance" Glitch is a fascinating dive into the history of a stone monument anchored in the heart of Binghamton. This structure embodies the continuity of life through the ages and is an immutable witness to the passage of time. Through an architectural perspective, the project explores the evolution of this stone, from the beginning of civilization to the modern era marked by the industrial revolution.

Yet magic lies in how this stone remains unshakeable despite the upheavals of history. It evokes a form of rebirth, because nature eventually regains its rights. Like an old wise soul, it preserves the integrity of its form while reinventing itself. Organic veins seem to beat at the pace of the surrounding city, reminding spectators of our unwavering link with nature.

At the heart of this video mapping show, the stone comes to life to become a reflection of our own existence. This artistic representation celebrates the life, the resilience of the stone and the indomitable power of nature. When art, history and nature merge, it is an immersive experience that reminds us that humanity is ephemeral, but that natural elements persist. The project "Re-naissance" Glitch at the Binghamton Luma Festival invites us to reflect on our place in the universe, on our heritage, and on the need to preserve our relationship with nature. A true celebration of life and the persistence of the elements around us.
