An Experience in the Heart of the Gold Number
In September 2025, the historic facades of the Binghamton Carnegie Library became the canvas of a transcendent audiovisual experience.
RATIO, presented as part of the prestigious Luma Festival, turned century-old architecture into a space of contemplation where mathematics, art and nature converge.
The Concept

Art As Universal Language
RATIO explores a fundamental truth: art is not confined to galleries or museums. It exists in nature, in stone, in the air itself that we breathe. This 5-minute performance reveals the latent aesthetic that inhabits the proportions, rhythms and textures that shape our world.
The Spiral of the Golden Number
At the heart of the work is the symbolic spiral inspired by the golden number, this divine proportion that governs both the growth of shells and the architecture of cathedrals. This universal constant becomes the driving thread of a progressive and hypnotic visual transformation.
The Visual Journey
From Purity to Complexity
Performance begins in the rigour of mathematical purity. The clean geometric lines gradually evolve towards a rich ornamental complexity. The architectural references from classical to Baroque and then gradually saturate the space, creating a visual density that culminates before starting its final metamorphosis.
Poetic Dissolution
At the peak of this density, a process of dissolution starts:
- Forms deconstruct
- Lines soften
- Matter gives way to movement
- The structure becomes breath
This return to simplicity and essentiality concludes the cycle, bringing the spectator back to the very essence of creation.
The Sound Dimension
The original composition of Elefan accompanies and amplifies this visual metamorphosis. The music, specially created for RATIO, weaves a soundtrack that dialogues with the projections, creating a perfect synergy between the eye and the ear.
